Library service
Our library service holds a broad range of information resources relating to agriculture, conservation, land management, energy and resources. Library resources include:
- A comprehensive collection of publications produced by us and the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), and their former agencies.
- Extensive scientific journal and book collections.
- Collections of maps, photographs, videos and CD-ROMs.
- Unpublished reports.
The library collection is mainly housed at the Knowledge Resource Centre, a state-of-the-art facility designed for the long-term preservation of library materials, located at Werribee.
How to access material
Access to the library is strictly by appointment only. Visitors are able to view items from the collection and to photocopy material for research or private study. A charge applies for photocopying.
Loans are only available on a library-to-library basis. Inter-library loans can be arranged through your public, institutional or work library. For more information see our service to other libraries page.
Before contacting your library or making an appointment you should search the online library catalogue to ensure that material of relevance is available.
You can also access a selection of digitised images from photographs held by our department and the Department of Sustainability and Environment in our Virtual Exhibition.
