DPI changes
In August 2008, we outlined a proposal for a change to modernise and improve the delivery of services to Victorian farmers.
As the changes take place throughout 2009, we will cease operating at five sites - Toolangi, Kyabram, Walpeup, Stawell and Rainbow - and most affected staff will be relocated to nearby sites. We will also relocate staff from leased sites at Sea Lake and Charlton, science activities at Snobs Creek will be relocated to Queenscliff, and most farm land at Rutherglen will be divested.
These changes will better position the department to meet the changing priorities of the farm sector, and align our capabilities and services with the new directions set by the Victorian Government's $205 million Future Farming strategy.
Expressions of Interest for the Walpeup and Kyabram sites
The Victorian Government recently offered the unique opportunity for suitable interested parties to acquire the land and infrastructure associated with the Kyabram Centre and the Mallee Research Station in Walpeup.
